Pokemon Legends: Z-A is possibly the most experimental game in the series because not only did it remove abilities and significantly change the move pool of every Pokemon, but it also completely reworked Pokemon battles. Turn-based battles have been a staple in the franchise for as long as it has existed, but Pokemon Legends: Z-A used a real-time battle system with move cooldowns and 4-player matches where it's all versus all.
